As a testament to its hardcore heritage, it continues to blend waterproof durability with updated alpine-style details. This is a layer for visionaries. This is an icon. ## Aggregate verdict

A substantial waterproof shell for wet, windy mountain use, skiing, and cold-weather layering. It offers strong storm protection, pit ventilation, useful internal storage, and zip-in compatibility, but it is heavier than minimalist backpacking shells. The relaxed cut can run roomy while the torso feels short, and some wearers find the rigid pit zips or high pockets uncomfortable. It supplies little insulation by itself, so cold conditions require a compatible liner or separate layers.
